TN Small Business Development Center Presents Small Business Leader Awards

The Tennessee Small Business Development Center (TSBDC) of Dyersburg State Community College recently held a celebration of small business owners and entrepreneurship of the Northwest TN region. The 2nd Annual Rising Star Small Business Appreciation and Award Banquet was held November 13th in the Student Center Commons of Dyersburg State Community College. In an Academy Awards style event, complete with red carpet arrivals and paparazzi, guests enjoyed a delicious catered meal, followed by a program of awards and networking.

Applebee's hosting job fair in Covington

Applebee's will soon open its doors in Covington, TN.

Now, Applebee's is hosting a job fair now through November 30th.

The job fair takes place each day from 11AM - 4PM at the Holiday Inn Express at 120 Deena Cove in Covington.

Applebee's is looking for great team members such as hosts, servers, bartenders, and cooks.

I-269 Regional Vision Study meetings to be held

(WMC-TV) – The Memphis Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) will be holding the second, and final round of public meetings concerning the new Interstate 269, now under construction.

During the meetings, discussion will focus on the impact of land usage, as well as transportation alternatives that may exist along the corridor of I-269.

A comment draft study meeting will first take place Nov. 27 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn & Suites near Wolfchase Galleria.

A second meeting, at which the final study will be presented for review, will be held Dec. 13 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., also held at the Holiday Inn & Suites near Wolfchase.

Bank of Ripley 21st Annual Festival of Quilts and Fine Needlework

October 22nd through November 16th, 2012, visitors from across the country are invited to visit the 21st Annual Festival of Quilts and Fine Needlework. The needlework will be displayed in the lobby of Bank of Ripley, 134 North Jefferson (on the Court Square), Ripley TN Monday through Friday during the office hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Interested quilt enthusiasts are welcome to exhibit their works of art or heirlooms at no fee. The exhibit will feature an array of antique and new quilts as well as many pieces of fine needlework. Selected items will be for sale by the artist/crafter.

Groups help veterans find jobs in West TN

When a tour of duty is complete, transitioning back into the civilian workforce can be daunting. Now, thanks to a unique partnership between two regional non-profit organizations and USDA Rural Development (RD) finding jobs is going to be a little easier for veterans returning to West Tennessee.

 

RD State Director Bobby Goode today joined Rep. Stephen Fincher and Lt. Gen. John Castellaw along with local leaders to announce federal funding for a program aimed at identifying jobs in the clean, renewable energy sector. "Every day soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines put their lives on the line to ensure the safety and security of our nation, sacrificing time with their families and careers," said Goode.
