Original equipment vs. aftermarket auto parts

Reliable and reputable Mid-South automotive sources will tell you:  when it comes to structural parts, the ones that contribute directly to the structural integrity of a vehicle, using aftermarket structural parts can be risky and dangerous (please read my investigation from last November by clicking here).

But aftermarket cosmetic parts, like fenders for example, are fair game. A report by web resource AutoMD.com cited what it called the top four myths of buying auto parts:

The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development is bringing a Career Coach to Munford  to provide a mobile computer lab with Internet access and create a venue for workshops including resume assistance and interviewing skills.

The Career Coach has computers, Internet access, Microsoft Office software, and copy and fax machines available to job seekers.

Career Coach staff will conduct valuable workshops such as résumé writing, job search strategies, and interviewing skills. 

These tools are extremely valuable to market yourself to a potential employer.

The Career Coach will be in front of the Munford Tipton County Memorial Public Library, 1476 Munford Avenue in Munford, Tennessee from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on June 3, 2011.

“Doing Business with Government – Government Contracting For Your Small Business” is the focus of a free workshop from 9a.m.-11a.m., May 31, at the TN Small Business Development Center of Dyersburg, located on the Dyersburg State Community College campus, 1510 Lake Rd, Dyersburg, TN.
 
This workshop will help business owners understand the basics of selling their products to the government and private industry.

It will highlight the steps to show them how to get set, ready and positioned to pursue opportunities and will provide technical resources that will give attendees the support networks to skillfully secure and perform contracts with the government and private industry.
 
Russell Toone, UT Procurement Technical Assistance Center coordinator, will share information to get businesses set and prepared for federal government contracting as well as information on procurements available to small and disadvantage businesses.

Wine deliveries bill passes in Tennessee

A Tennessee bill that would allow wine to be shipped to every home in the state is now up to the Governor.

The bill allows direct wine shipments from retailers to consumers -- even in cities that currently only allow liquor-by-the-drink sales.

Governor Bill Haslam is expected to sign the bill.

As flooding continues in many communities and others try to assess damage by some of the most devastating weather in history, Kroger is committing $250,000 in cash and in-kind contributions to assist storm and flood relief efforts in areas across Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee and other affected areas in the Southeast.

“We hope that by providing food and water to local food banks and financial support to the Red Cross we will help our associates and customers rebuild their communities in the aftermath of the floods and devastating storms,” said Joe Bell, Kroger Delta Marketing & Public Affairs. “Right now so many people would like to get involved and help others.

It has long been said that one man's trash is another man's treasure. Well Saturday, May 7th you have the opportunity to turn one person's junk into your own jewel at the Woodland Park homeowners association annual garage sale. The Woodland Park subdivision is located one block north of Highway 64 on Canada Road in Lakeland. Garage doors should be open for business by 7:30 in the morning and last until around 3:00 in the afternoon. A rain date has been set for May 14th, but according to the Action News 5 Weather team, it should be a perfect day to find a deal!
