Covington First Baptist Church is relocating from their downtown campus, 211 S. Main St, to their new location at 2105 HWY 59 South.
They had a groundbreaking ceremony Sunday evening, August 7.
The service started inside the Family Life Center that was built on the new property 10 years ago, and then the services were moved outside in the 100 degree heat, where the groundbreaking took place.
In all, 200 attended joined hands around the new construction to pray for their new direction.
Their new building will be over 34,000 square feet, and is a projected $4.4 million dollar project.
The new building will be attached to our Family Life Center/ Tipton Christian Academy (PK3-3rd Grade, with a new grade added each year, up to the 5th grade.)
The new building will include permanent office space, educational space, a state of the art kitchen (of course, we’re Baptists!), a choir room, a library, coffee lounge/fellowship area, and an Interim Worship facility/Fellowship Hall.
All classrooms will be technological “smart” classrooms with wireless internet throughout, and each classroom will have either a projector or flat-panel television monitor that can be utilized for teaching or any other possible option.
This is Phase two of a three part plan.
The final phase will be to construct a permanent sanctuary in the years to come.
The first phase was the construction of the Family Life Center and our Academy.
This phase is a culmination of nearly 15 years of diligent work and prayer of countless church members.
