New drug task force deputy director named in West TN | Crime

District Attorney General Mike Dunavant and 25th Judicial District Drug Task Force Director John Thompson are pleased to announce the appointment of Fayette County Sheriff’s Investigator Jason Drewery to the position of DTF Deputy Director, effective October 1, 2012.

Also, Fayette County Sheriff’s Investigator Kenny Cook has been assigned to the position of DTF Field Agent, and Fayette County Chief Deputy Sheriff Tom Whitaker has graciously agreed to serve as the Law Enforcement liaison and advisor for the Drug Task Force.

“Jason Drewery is an outstanding officer with extensive knowledge and experience in narcotics investigations, and I am proud to have him serving the people of the 25th Judicial District in this leadership position”, said District Attorney Mike Dunavant. “Jason has received and participated in intensive training in new trends and techniques in successful drug investigations and prosecution, and has also been instructed on best practices and administrative policies and procedures in operating and administering a Drug Task Force operation”, said Dunavant.

“Chief Tom Whitaker has previously served as the Director of the 25th Judicial District Drug Task Force, and was instrumental in its creation, management, growth, and overall effectiveness in partnering with local law enforcement agencies to develop successful strategies in aggressively interdicting and responding to all types of illegal narcotics activity in the 5 counties of the 25th Judicial District. His sage wisdom as a liaison and advisor is a welcomed and valuable tool for the operational effectiveness of the DTF, and we are fortunate to partner with him in this way”, said General Dunavant.

“We especially want to thank Fayette County Sheriff Bobby Riles, whose department has been a participating agency since the inception of Drug Task Force, and whose steady and effective leadership on our Board of Directors has been key to the continuing improvement and success of the DTF”, said General Dunavant.
