Tipton County deputies investigating death of 3-week-old baby | Crime
The Tipton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the early morning death of a 3 week-old-infant.
Deputies say the baby died at home in the 2300 block of Drummonds Road in Munford.
On Thursday, deputies received a 911 call regarding an unresponsive child around 3:30AM.
The father reported he had fallen with the child.
Deputies and Rural Metro responded to the residence and the male infant was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital (Tipton).
The infant was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Tipton County Medical Examiner, Dr. Buffy Cook, responded and requested an autopsy at the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office in Memphis.
The Tipton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division is being assisted by The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation special agents and the Department of Children Services.
The family is being cooperative with detectives and agents who are still in the preliminary stages of the investigation.
The names of the infant and parents have not been released pending family notification of the death.
