Man convicted of raping 9-year-old | Crime

After a two day trial, a jury convicted William Chumley of raping a nine-year-old girl in Covington last year.

The verdict was returned on Thursday, July 28 and Chumley is scheduled to be sentenced on August 18. The conviction carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years.

“I am glad that we were able to achieve justice for the victim and her family in this case,” said District Attorney General Mike Dunavant.
