Tipton County deputies to conduct DUI checkpoints

The Tipton County Sheriff’s Office will conduct impaired driver (DUI) checkpoints at two locations Friday night September 28, 2012.

The first will be held on Wilkinsville Rd. south of Simmons Rd. from 7 pm thru 10 pm, and the second will be held on Highway 14 South at the Shelby County line from 11 pm thru 1 am.

Tipton County deputies bust meth lab inside Munford house

On August 22, the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office narcotic investigators were conducting an investigation regarding the purchasing of pseudoephedrine tablets by Leonard Hunter. Investigators arrived at Hunter’s residence located at 8344 Munford-Gilt Edge Road in Burlison and as they approached the residence could smell a strong chemical odor associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine (meth) coming from an open window.

Members of the 25th Judicial District Attorney's Office and the 25th Judicial District Drug Task Force attended training in Nashville this week, where former 25th DAG and Tennessee Attorney General Paul G. Summers was a keynote speaker. Prosecutors and Agents participated in intensive training in new trends and techniques in successful drug investigations and prosecution, and were also instructed on best practices and administrative policies and procedures in operating and administering a Drug Task Force operation.

(WMC-TV) - A man was airlifted to the hospital after investigators say a day of drinking and horseshoes ended with violence.

Tipton County deputies say Terry Lewis and Tommy White were playing horseshoes at their Cathi Street home in Drummonds Friday when the pair got into an argument.

Deputies: Grill used to cook meth

(WMC-TV) - A citizen's tip led deputies to an active outdoor meth lab Sunday, according to a spokesperson for the Tipton County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators say a couple was cooking meth on a grill outside their Drummonds home when deputies arrived.

Thieves break into Tipton County Landfill

Thieves break into Tipton County Landfill

On July 20th 2012 at about 1:30 am, thieves jumped the fence at the Tipton County Landlfill located at 9051 Highway 51S in Brighton and entered the recycling building.

The thieves made away with 45 pounds of copper, approximately 14 vehicle batteries, an air conditioner unit and a toolbox containing several hand tools.

The Tipton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and the Brighton Police Department conducted the investigation and obtained surveillance video of the property which captured the thieves in the act. Detectives were conducting a similar theft investigation at the Landfill which occurred in April, which had resulted in the surveillance cameras being installed at the property.
