(WMC-TV) - A woman accused of helping run a Tipton County gambling ring has turned herself into investigators.

Denise Whitehead surrendered at the Tipton County Sheriff's Office correctional facility around 8 p.m. Monday.

Covington business owner arrested for illegal gambling

On August 2nd around 8:00 PM, Tipton County Sheriff’s Office Investigators executed two search warrants related to an undercover gambling operation. The warrants were served at 808 Stitt Street in Covington and Little Porky’s located at 105A Muellar Brass Road in Covington.

The operation confirmed there were “payoffs” being made at the Stitt street address by Denise Whitehead, 39, of 1123 Tatlock in Covington.

Police investigating Covington City Hall break-in

(WMC-TV) - Police are investigating a burglary at Covington City Hall.

Investigators say the break-in happened sometime between 5 p.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. Friday. The thieves sneaked into the building by smashing a downstairs window.

Tipton County deputies involved in deadly shooting

On July 23, 2012 at about 8:16 PM, Tipton County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 1600 block of Pryor Road in Drummonds regarding a domestic violence complaint. Upon arrival at about 9:00 PM deputies approached the residence and the suspect answered the door armed with a long gun. Deputies gave verbal commands to the subject to drop his weapon, the suspect refused, branished the weapon and the deputy shot the suspect. EMS and Rural Metro responded to the scene however the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. The deputies were not injured in the incident. The suspect is described as a 31 year old white male who resided at the Drummonds home.

Deputies seaching for market thieves

(WMC-TV) - Deputies need your help searching for thieves in one local county who went to the market in search of something more than food.

Burglars in Tipton County stopped by the Midway Market with the hopes of cashing in on some big bucks.

When officers arrived to the scene, they found broken glass from the front door. As well as damaged office electronics such as parts of the surveillance equipment.

During the robbery there was an undetermined amount of cash taken from a video machine, ATM machine and the office area.

Investigators looking into burglary outbreak

(WMC-TV) - Last week, there was an outbreak of robberies in Tipton County. The sheriff’s office received complaints of six different residential burglaries which were all near each other.

Detectives say thieves entered into the homes by kicking in the doors then stealing electronics, flat screen TVs, jewelry and a handgun. All of these break-ins  happened during the daytime work hours when the victims were not home.
