On April 20, 2012, District Attorney General Mike Dunavant, along with Captain Shannon Beasley and Lt. John Weatherly of the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office, attended a Forum at the University of Memphis Lambuth Campus in Jackson, Tennessee, entitled: “Crime, Gangs, and Neighborhoods: What can we learn from the Memphis Blue C.R.U.S.H. Model?”

Cadence Bank & Cintas announce Community Shred Days Event

Memphis, TN (April 23, 2012) – In an effort to combat the growing problem of identity theft and fraud while helping to preserve our environment, Cadence Bank and Cintas® Document Management will sponsor the sixth-annual Community Shred Days. Memphis residents and businesses are invited to bring old and unwanted documents to Cadence Bank locations, where they will be securely destroyed free of charge.

Tipton County deputies looking for person responsible for home invasion

On April 3rd, Tipton County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 100 block of Junior Drive in Covington regarding a home invasion.

Deputies responded and determined that two black males wearing hoodies and dark clothing knocked on the door of the residence and forcibly entered the residence after the door was answered.

The robbers were armed with a shotgun and locked the victim and her two juvenile children in the garage after ransacking the home.

On March, 10 2012, wanted fugitive, Fred Edward Masters, was captured in Tipton County near Mason, TN.

Masters has been wanted since realeasing his pit bull on deputies during the execution of a search warrant on Saturday, 03 March, 2012.

Since the incident, Tipton County Sheriff's Office, with assistance of U.S. Marshalls and Shelby County Sheriff deputies, have been tracking and following up on information as to Masters' whereabouts.

At about 5pm Saturday evening, Tipton County detectives and deputies, with assistance of the Mason Police Department, surrounded a home in Mason, TN.

Masters was located hiding under a bed in the home and arrested without further incident.

Sheriff J.T. "Pancho" Chumley is happy to see Masters in custody.

Tipton County grand jury meets and hands down indictments

On Monday, 5 March 2012, a Tipton County Grand Jury returned 30 drug indictments as a result of several undercover narcotics operations that date back to 2011.

The Tipton County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the U.S. Marshalls Service and Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, executed the indictments on Tuesday evening throughout Tipton County.

One search warrant was also conducted during the operation that resulted in a mother and son team being arrested.

Tipton County Sheriff's office looking for man wanted for fradulent checks

The Tipton County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information that will lead to the identification of a man wanted for passing numerous fraudulent checks worth thousands of dollars.

The suspect is described as a male black, approximately 5’10, medium build and is wearing some type of identification badge in one of the photos.

The suspect passed the fraudulent checks to purchase gift cards and vacuum cleaners at the Wal-Mart stores in Cordova and Bartlett as well as Barnes and Noble and Walgreens in the Wolfchase area.
