Covington residents scared after 2012's first murder

COVINGTON, TN- (WMC-TV) - Covington police and the TBI are still investigating the city's first homicide of the year after a 29-year-old man was found shot to death.

Now, family and friends of the victim say crime in the area is out of control.

"I'm tired of turning a blind eye. I want my streets safe for my child. I shouldn't have to live in fear," said resident Chloe Mann.

Mann has no idea who would kill her cousin.

Orlandus Cobbins, who was known as "Bull," was found slumped over in his car inside a family member's garage Monday night.

As Cobbins' family prepares to bury him, they're left with a lot of unanswered questions.

"I have no clue, knowing the type of person Bull was, it's hard to say because everybody loved him," Mann continued.

"I thought ‘Why him?' What in the world could he have gotten mixed in with? Who would want to kill him," said friend Holli Ray.

COVINGTON, TN- (WMC-TV) - The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Covington Police Department are investigating the city's first homicide of the year and the case has a close connection to 2010's Henning post office murders.

Known throughout Covington as "Bull," the family of 29-year-old Orlando Cobbins said they'll miss his laugh the most.

"He's a barber. He's a daddy, a brother, a son, a cousin," said Cobbins' sister, Ayanna Dowell, "he is a comedian."

"He got along with everybody. A lot of people around here loved him. He was considered one of the best barbers in Covington" said Dominique Mitchell, Cobbins' cousin.

Mitchell said around 11 o'clock Monday night she heard her cousin back his car into her driveway.

"A few moments later I heard a gunshot," she said.

She later found Cobbins slumped over in her garage.
