June 8, 9, 10, 15, 16 - Playhouse 51 presents Anne Coulter Martens' adaptation of O' Henry's The Ransom of Red Chief June 8, 9, 15 & 16 at 7:30 PM and June 10 at 2 PM. The play is sponsored by Cary and Lalania Vaughn. Performances will be held at the Millington Civic Center located at 8077 Wilkinsville Road in Millington. The play features a couple of small-time, down-on-their-luck schemers. They just needed to pull off one quick, small job to bankroll their next big real estate swindle and, then, they would be rolling in dough! So they innocently came to this small, quiet, unassuming town of friendly folks to kidnap and hold for ransom the nephew of the richest man around. Little did they know, when they made the snatch, they had grabbed one heck of a lot more than they bargained for. The show, directed by Jane Lester, hilariously tells the tale of how these two desperate 'kidnappers' survived their ordeal. Tickets are available at the door for $12 for regular adults and $10 for seniors/students/military/Playhouse 51 members.
