CELEBRATE MUNFORD 5K RUN | Events

The thirteenth annual Celebrate Munford 5K Run is scheduled for Saturday, August 18th, with the official start at 8:00 am in Centennial Park on 148 Reeder Avenue in Munford. In addition to the run, is the first annual Mayor’s 2 Mile Fitness Walk - an even surface walk within Centennial Park led by Mayor Dwayne Cole.

Event Coordinator DJ Watson noted Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton would again be the lead sponsor of the event. Other supporting sponsors include Walgreen’s, Turner Dentistry, First Citizens National Bank, Advanced Pools, Speight Family Medical and the Memphis Runners Track Club.

Pre-registration is available online through August 16th at www.munford.com. The cost of pre-registration is $20, with a $2 discount for members of the Memphis Running Track Club, children ages 17 and under and senior ages 55 and over. Registration after August 16th is $25. T-shirts are guaranteed in requested size to the first 200 registered; after that it will be first-come, first served. In addition, technical shirts will be given to the first 150 runners/walkers who register.

Overall winners will be awarded for male and female and masters male and female, as well as the top 3 in age groups 11/under, 12-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70 plus.

Pre-race packets are available for pick up from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, August 17th at Walgreen’s at 43 Tabb Drive in Munford. You can also register during that time – race day fees apply.

On Saturday, August 18th beginning at 6:30 am, race day registration will open and packets can be picked up. Yoga LifeWay will lead warm-up exercises at 7:40 am . The race will begin at 8:00 am, with awards at 9:30 am.

Following the race, the Munford Troop 66 Boy Scouts are offering a pancake breakfast at Munford United Methodist Church, 57 Tipton Road – generous portions of good food promised to feed hungry runners and their fans!

Celebrate Munford 5K Run is a function of Celebrate Munford, Inc., a 501-C3 organization that exists to promote community and to provide scholarships, grants, and fund projects to better the City of Munford. This year’s Celebrate Munford 5K Run will benefit the Munford-Tipton County Public Memorial Library.
