Tipton County Sheriff's deputies find body of missing teenager James Jones, Jr.
(WMC-TV) – Tipton County Sheriff's Office deputies have located the body of James Jones, Jr. in rural eastern Tipton County on Lindsey Road in Covington. The TBI is leading the death investigation. Tipton County Medical Examiner Dr. Buffy Cook has requested an autopsy at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis. The death investigation is in the preliminary stages.
Search teams combed the woods looking for any clues as to the whereabouts of James Jones Junior.
Jones' dark blue Altima was found abandoned around 6 a.m. Wednesday.
"Evidence at the vehicle indicates there was foul play," said Chief Donna Turner, Tipton County Sheriff's Department.
Trained rescue teams, including a canine unit, combed a large area near Highway 179 in search of the teenager.
Turner said several of Jones' friends and family have been questioned in his disappearance but no one has been arrested.
