Tipton County schools to host college/career fair

If you're a high school junior or senior, you'll want to attend an upcoming event showcasing Mid-South colleges, universities, and technical schools.

Tipton County Schools will host a College & Career Night in late October.

It will take place Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Munford High School.

The college/career night will take place from 5:30-7:30 PM inside the school gym.

Countrywood Neighborhood Sale

Every year, yard sale bargain hunters flock to Cordova, Tennessee for the annual Countrywood Neighborhood Sale sponsored by the Countrywood Neighborhood Association.

On Friday, September 22, the huge yard event will draw crowds from all over the Greater Memphis area and from neighboring states.

Last year the sale was a huge success.  More than 200 residents participated

Rain or shine, the participating vendors will sell their almost brand new or slightly used items from furniture to clothing and televisions to motorized vehicles to make a buck.  Not to mention the local economy benefited as people booked hotel rooms for a few days to stay and visit the grand city of Memphis to shop it’s local stores and dine in local restaurants.

Skate Night in Millington

(WMC-TV) - Family Skate Night returns to the Millington Civic Center on Friday, September 21.  The Civic Center is located at 8077 Wilkinsville Road.

Skate Night runs from 6-9 p.m. and admission is $5 for skaters (includes skate rental) with non-skating parents admitted for free.

You may bring your own skates, but they must have rubber wheels.

Get Lost in the Mid-South Maze

(WMC-TV) - The Mid-South Maze is fun for fall, and each year we wait for the design to be unveiled.

This year, the 12th for the maize maze at the Agricenter, it is a spider web.

You can get lost beginning Friday, September 14, through Halloween. The maze is open Thursday and Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., Saturday from noon until 10:00 p.m., and Sunday from noon until 8:00 p.m.

It costs $7.00 for ages 13 and up, $5 for ages six through 12, and children five and under get in free.

And if you scare easily, do not forget the maze becomes haunted Fridays, Saturdays, and the last two Thursdays in October.

Admission is $10.00 those nights.

Alzheimer's walk at Shelby Farms this weekend

Do something fun this Saturday, September 15, and join hundreds of Mid-Southerners at the visitor's center at Shelby Farms for the Walk To End Alzheimer's.

The walk begins at 9 a.m.

The Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, this inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to reclaim the future for millions.

Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease, the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death.

Perkins pancakes benefit kids

Saturday, September 15 is Give Kids The World Pancake Day at Perkins Restaurants.

Customers can receive a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes.  While there, making a donation to Give Kids The World benefits children with life-threatening illnesses by giving them the chance to experience a cost-free family vacation in central Florida.

It's all part of Perkins' "Full Tummy Full Heart" campaign.

Town of Atoka kicks off soccer programs

Challenger sports is offering two short four week camps this fall to help your child with soccer skill development and growth. Activities will be on Tuesday evenings from October 16th-November 6th. More detailed information and a link about each program is below. The deadline for registering is October 9th, and each program only has a limited number of spots, so be sure to get registered early!!
