Law firm sponsors new Mid-South race series starting at zoo

In the space of 41 days, some of the fastest runners in the Mid-South will have the opportunity to race for the M-Town Crown. Race directors of four evening races have united to create the M-Town Race Series.

“It’s a good idea,” said Bob Kirk, an attorney at the forty lawyer firm Farris Bobango that stepped up to become title sponsor the all new  running series.

Dyersburg State Community College’s (DSCC) Head Baseball Coach Robert White was recently named the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) Conference Coach of the Year in Region VII.  The announcement was made Sunday, May 5 at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region VII Baseball Tournament, hosted by Volunteer State Community College in Gallatin, TN. 

 

This marks the first time Coach White has won the coveted award.  He has finished as runner-up several times in the past but ultimately clinched it during the weekend tournament.  The annual Coach of the Year award is decided by TCCAA Conference Coaches who cast their votes to nominate which coach they feel has done the best job with their team that year.

The Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) Eagles Baseball Team ended its season recently with a loss against Chattanooga State (College name here) in tournament play at the 2013 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region VII Baseball Tournament, hosted by Volunteer State Community College in Gallatin, TN. 

 

The Eagles, led by DSCC Head Baseball Coach Robert White, finished 16-10 in conference play and had an overall record of 30-18.  They won seven out of nine conference series and were ranked 22nd in the NJCAA Division I rankings and 2nd place overall in the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA).

Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) Men’s Baseball team has cracked the poll in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I rankings.  Ranked at 22nd with a respectable 29-14 record so far, the DSCC Eagles are currently in second place overall in the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA), trailing first place Walters State Community College only by half of a game heading into the last weekend of the TCCAA regular season.

Local Softball Standout Brittany Dodson Signs with DSCC

Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) recently recruited area softball standout Brittany Dodson of Dickson to play on the 2013/2014 Eagles softball team.

Brittany is currently a senior at Dickson County High School and plans to possibly major in Social Work at DSCC.

She plays for the Tennessee Mud Dawgs Travel Team coached by Susan Penn. Brittany is the daughter of Chandra and Joe Dodson of Dickson.

Tipton County Junior Auxiliary makes plans for 5K race

Members of the Tipton County Junior Auxiliary are proud to announce the JA5K run/walk event to be held in Atoka, TN on April 6, 2013.

This course will take you through Blaydes Estates Subdivision on Rosemark Road: it is a friendly course so all levels of participants and those with strollers are invited to join.

This event provides the Junior Auxiliary of Tipton County with funding for service projects throughout the year.
