Forrest Spence 5K helps families endure unthinkable

Forrest Spence 5K helps families endure unthinkable

Few running races in the Mid-South feature a "Stroller Division" but this weekend's Forrest Spence 5K is all about helping families with young children.

Among the regular road runners who show up for 5Ks across the Mid-South nearly every weekend, you may see more sleep deprived young parents than usual trying to rally their little troops for this special event. That's because the Forrest Spence 5K was founded by young parents - Brittany and David Spence - as a means of honoring their beloved first child.

Forrest was born on September 10, 2007, but shortly after birth developed complications and was rushed to the PICU at LeBonheur Children's Hospital where, according to his fund's website, Forrest fought valliantly for 55 days.

Stonebridge Golf Club Set To Reopen Soon!

Stonebridge Golf Club Set To Reopen Soon!

The Stonebridge Golf Club is pleased to announce it has set a target date to re-open around the first of September. The major project which began in June included installing new Champion Bermuda greens with collars, new irrigation and modifying some drainage issues. The club would like to remind all residents who live on or around the course that for safety reason no one is permitted to be on the course at any time unless they are a paid golfing customer. We look forward to generating a lot of excitement about Stonebridge Golf Club and its return to notoriety as the "best Public" course in the Memphis area.

Record crowd rocks, runs rainy Gibson 5K

Record crowd rocks, runs rainy Gibson 5K

You prepare to fight heat exhaustion at the usually hot and humid Gibson 5K. But cold? No one expects to get a chill on what began as a sultry Southern June night on the banks of the Mighty Mississippi. More than a few in the record crowd of 1,688 on Saturday evning, June 11 would have given a pretty penny for a poncho, blanket or jacket after a surprise thunderstorm had runners splashing down Beale Street.
