The Action News 5 Storm Tracking Team says the Mid-South won’t be getting any more rain this week, but the area’s weather woes are far from being over.

Roads throughout the region have been washed away or are still covered in water.

Flooded roads a problem in Tipton County

This week's severe weather has reaked havoc on Tipton County.

Officials report no major storm damage, but flooded roads are a major problem.

Bridge repairs close lanes on I-40

Road crews with the Tennessee Department of Transportation will close lanes on a major portion of Interstate 40 this weekend and through early next week.

Starting Friday, Feb. 25 at 8 p.m. and lasting until 6 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, I-40 East will be down to two lanes in each direction and Sam Cooper will be down to one lane in each direction.

Tractor trailer flips, knocks down utility pole

Drivers near Covington had to deal with slow moving traffic Thursday after a crash caused a tractor trailer to overturn.

The crash happened around 2:20 just south of the city on Highway 51.

Investigators say a flatbed truck pulled in front of the semi, causing the 18-wheeler to flip and knock over a utility pole.

While the crash made for a dramatic scene, officials say no one was injured.

TDOT running low on salt for roads

An earlier, colder and snowier winter season has the Tennessee Department of Transportation implementing new strategies to conserve resources during snow and ice removal operations. Winter weather started affecting Tennessee roads in November of last year and TDOT’s arsenal of salt is being used at a faster rate than our supplier can replenish reserves.

The winter weather is causing problems for some drivers.

This car slid into a ditch along Highway 51 near Covington around 3 p.m. Thursday.

There didn't appear to be any injuries.
